Director’s Plea for Help with Tucson Track Closing!

Director’s Plea for Help with Tucson Track Closing!

The official closing date for Tucson is June 25, 2016. All track hounds are slated to go to various adoption groups including AAGI.  To assist with the effort to place such a large number of hounds, we are doubling our intake through the month of June.

All in all it is going pretty well but AAGI desperately needs your help!! Thankfully we have had so many people step up to foster and adopt that we are well covered there.  That leaves the remaining way that you can assist us:

  • Donate, donate, donate – now our greatest need. Sadly to say this effort is a drain on our financial resources –we have brought in over 50 hounds in the last 2 months and  it costs us an average of $250 per dog in veterinary costs alone. Any little part of that is always appreciated — no amount is too small. There is a Donation Block below on this page where you can donate in $10 increments.

In grateful service to the hounds,
Kari Morrison Young, Director

Orientation & Adoption

Arizona Adopt A Greyhound is proud to be one of the nation’s largest Greyhound Adoption agencies. Lots of dedicated and hard working volunteers have made AAGI the successful program it is today.

We keep all of our dogs in foster homes.  We host or attend various special events throughout the year as well as regular Meet & Greet events so people can see what wonderful pets these “greyt” dogs make. We have relationships with racing kennel owners who like us to take their dogs, plus the ever returning stream of dogs coming back for divorces, deaths, moves or finances. We always have dogs for adoption!!

Tempe PetCo Meet & Greet / Orientation

Three Fridays each month between 4:30 – 6:30pm

PetCo – Tempe
1835 E Guadalupe Rd #112
SE Corner of Guadalupe & McClintock

Upcoming Dates:
July 1, 2016
July 8, 2016
July 15, 2016
July 29, 2016

Stop by to say hi and learn more about adopting a greyhound.  Since our dogs are fostered in homes all over the valley, available dogs are NOT usually on site but we always have “floor models” on hand along with any outgoing placements so you can see what terrific dogs they are.  The New Adopter Orientation is from 6:00 – 7:00pm and required prior to any adoption.  We appreciate you emailing us that you plan to attend.

In months that have a 5th Friday we will be at PetCo from 4:30-6:30 pm but will only schedule an Orientation on request.

AAGI Email List

We are working hard to make sure everybody knows what is going on with AAGI. We email out notices of events, the Nail Clinic and other news we want to share.

If you are NOT getting email from us it is because we don’t have your current email. Please email Marleigh and she will get that fixed.

Also, if you are getting our email but would prefer not to, just ask Marleigh to remove you.

PGP is located at 38th Street & Washington and the only complicated part is that you have to come through the traffic for Park & Swap. Turn into the main entrance, which is 38th Street, turn right, turn left and go straight towards the large 3-story building at the back of the property. There is an area that was used for Valet parking & that is where you can park. You will come through the big sliding gate in the wall to the covered parking in the back of the old paddock. We will have signs but if all else fails call Joni @ 602-999-2900.
