Gatherings

Greyhound Gatherings have become more and more popular and are a great way to spend time with your greyhound and meet other crazy greyhound people at the same time.

Most of them last for a long weekend and occur on an annual basis and although there are a few “flavors” the main differences are in the locations. Almost all of the big events feature greyhound games, maybe some seminars, auctions, raffles and shop-till-you-drop opportunities to see more greyhound stuff than you ever thought would be available!

The Grand-Daddy of them all is Greyhounds Reach The Beach, also just referred to as “Dewey”. This annual event at Dewey Beach, Delaware sees hundreds of greyhounds flocking to the Atlantic seaboard in early October.

The Greyhound Gathering in Kanab Utah, hosted by The Greyhound Gang, gave those of us west of the Rockies an opportunity to get together without making a cross-country trek. Held the first week or so of May it grows every year. Look under Greyt Events on Claudia’s website.

The West Coast Gathering in Solvang, California is a relative newcomer who is developing a faithful following. Generally scheduled for February each year.

There are many other events – both large and small – all over the country.
